The Muppets are back
A few days ago, I took my family to a screening of The Muppets, thanks to Moms And The City. Disney Studios now controls the property it was excellent to see my childhood favorites on the big screen again – as you know its been a few years since they last were on the big screen. This isnt a remake, its actually a bit sad if you grew up watching the gang. It shows them 20 years later and most of the world having forgot them. It also shows each of the gang doing their own thing. Here’s the official description of the movie…
On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, his brother Gary (Jason Segel) and Gary’s girlfriend Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage a telethon and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate. With signature celebrity cameos, Disney’s “The Muppets” hits the big screen Nov. 23, 2011.
Its a great movie for kids my only issue is that the humor of the muppets isnt there for the adults viewers – its much more corny it’ll work great for the kids but that second level of humor for the adults just isnt in the same league but with that said its Disney and it does a great job of putting the band back together! I’ll be honest I almost felt myself tearing up with the nostalgia of the old game
Nissan Taxi Trivia with Ben Bailey – The taxi of tomorrow
I was asked to put together a team of bloggers to take on another few groups of bloggers in a heated trivia contest… of course my team of Jill of Glamamom and Lauren of A Mommy in the City kicked some bootay… we got 5 of 6 correct – a few twitter shout outs later and we rocked it!
While raising money was one goal – checking out the new cabs that will be taking over NYC in 2013 wasn’t a bad thing either. There is a long list of features down below.
When it was all said and done, we raised $1,000 for The Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center, saw the Taxi of Tomorrow, and got to watch Jill snuggle up to Ben Bailey (yah it was embarrassing).

Godspell returns to Broadway in this modern revival – Discount Code & Ticket Giveaway
Long before Wicked was on broadway there was Godspell by Stephen Schwartz. Its a very interesting take on a what I would have imagined being a very slow and drama filled play… it was rather up beat and popcorn-y. I will say being not so religious myself this was a little much for me in that area but it still held my attention and I could totally see many people really enjoying this show.
There was a large interweave of comedy which really helped keep me interested in the show. It also helped that Jesus is played by Hunter Parrish, from TV’s “Weeds” (one of my favorite shows on TV) creates a group of followers out of disaffected, isolated youths gabbing on their cellphones. Pokes at Facebook, “Purple Rain,” Lindsay Lohan, childhood obesity, death of Khadafy, and Donald Trump kept me chuckling between the little bit of heavy parts.
I think this would be great for any teenager who wants a relevant connection to the content, this certainly isnt the play I’m taking anyone under the age of ten too. They really wont get the subject matter and will be ready to bolt the moment the first few scenes/acts are over.
This would be a good date night show since its located right off the northern end of times square. Just make sure you’re both cool with the religious aspects. The great thing about the theatre is there isnt a bad seat since its done as theatre in the round.

Tips for fun and creative video this Halloween! with a Vimeo Plus Giveaway
It’s that time of year again, when our little ghouls, goblins, vampires, pirates and princesses take to the neighborhood in search of pounds of candy! If you’re like other parents, you’re quick with your camera to snap still photos of your trick-or-treaters all dressed up, but why not turn to video this year for a little more creative twist?
Try this — get your children to act out their character or whatever they’re dressed as this year, and record some quick 30-60 second video clips. You’ll be amazed at what they do and just how creative their little minds can be!
Here are some easy to follow tips that you can use to capture this great video, all with just using your smartphone:
- Smudges aren’t fun
Since you’re always holding your smartphone in your hand and putting it up to your ear, it’s natural that its lens will have smudges. A quick wipe with a soft cloth before you start to record is the first step you should take. This will give you the clearest shot possible. - Think “H” for Halloween and for horizontal!
Be aware of which way you’re holding your smartphone! It may feel natural to hold it vertically and then press record; however, that will give you a video that’s vertical when viewing. Your best bet is to hold your smartphone horizontally. This will allow you to fully enjoy your final product on a widescreen HDTV or computer. - Stay just off center!
If you’re lining up your child right in the middle of the shot, STOP! Instead, place them just off center. This is an easy trick that will add an interesting feel and context to your video and really capture your viewers’ attention and keep it on your trick-or-treater! - Shake no more!
A shaky video can be just as scary as your kids’ costumes! No one wants to watch a shaky video, so keep the following in mind when you’re about to hit record: hold with both hands and spread your pinkies; take a nice wide stance and spread your feet apart; brace your elbows against your chest for added support; or lean against a surface, such as a wall or tree, to steady yourself. - Let’s hear them
Your friends and family want to hear your little ones give their best rendition of a pirate or ghost, so keep in mind how far you are from your subject when recording. The mics found in today’s smartphones aren’t the most sensitive, so try to be as close to your kids as possible to ensure you pick up their voices – being in a quiet environment helps too! - Share and scare!
Once you’re happy with the video you’ve captured, take advantage of free software, such as Vimeo’s free iPhone app, which you can use to quickly edit, trim and add effects. You can then share and scare with your friends and family by uploading safely and securely to Vimeo – all without having to go to the computer!

10 Years — Then vs Now
I’m part of the Windows Champions program so I wanted to take a moment to celebrate the ten year anniversary of Windows XP and Office. I could not get through my day without Windows and Office – and I’ll fully admit it my main PC is still running XP Pro. I’d love to say that I need to do much more now a days but fact is when windows xp came out I was in college doing a little bit of everything (which is very different then today). These days I use Word, Outlook, Notepad, and once in a blue moon minesweeper 😛
So the famous day that changed most of our lives was October 25, 2001 – I couldnt find a picture from Halloween of 2001 and sadly I havent a memory of what I even dressed up as. I did find a photo from my 21st birthday that I shared with my two best/good friends Andrew and Steve.
I guess we’ve all changed since that time…

The movie is perfect for 3 year olds, as its timing is nice and short but its the classic story line. Which really is something to think that my child will grow up again with one of my favorite characters as a toddler. Reuniting Pooh, Piglet, Owl, Tigger, Rabbit, Kanga, Roo and last but not least the ever loveable Eeyore who now is on the look out for his last tail. Its fantastically put together and my child has been enjoying it daily.

A blast from the past… Jem & The Holograms out on DVD! Review and Giveaway
Growing up my kid sister loved this show – so like many things I suffered though watching it (instead of Thundercats or Transformers)… But none the less any child of the last 70’s and 80’s will know this show all too well!
I’m sure I watched a lot of Jem and the Holograms on TV when I was a child. I loved her pink hair as I think I tried to paint my sister’s hair once or twice – just trying to torment her!
