GlowCicle

GlowCicle

78791b38d4f05790706cb192b14bce64_originalI have seen dozens, if not hundreds, of Kickstarter campaigns, but GlowCicle shined brighter than the rest with its creative design, customizable features and delicious flavor.

GlowCicle is set to get your party glowing, especially when the lights go out! It’s a patented frozen treat featuring what they call “side-by-side chambers”, which is where all the magic happens. One chamber holds a tasty treat made with natural colors and flavors and the other chamber holds a glow stick. When you’re ready to treat yourself, you snip the top off of the frozen treat, bend and activate the glow stick and slip it into the patented side pouch. It’s really that simple! Not only does the glow stick make the frozen treat shine, but it also acts as the perfect handle so your hands don’t get too cold. And when you’re done eating the frozen treat, you have a glowing bracelet to wear.

Something else that’s pretty unique to GlowCicle, although this frozen treat comes in a variety of colors, it only comes in one tropical flavor, featuring hints of pineapple, orange, lime, cranberry and Tahitian vanilla. I was convinced that the different colors were different flavors when I first tasted them, but oh boy was I wrong! The red treat tasted like cherry and the blue tasted like blueberry. I was surprised to hear that they were all the same flavor.

The GlowCicle Pops are made for all occasions and events. From blank wrappers to pre-labeled with a generic message like, “Happy Birthday!” or “Happy Anniversary!” to my favorite, to Personalized GlowCicle Pops for your one-of-a-kind situation such as “Happy 10th Birthday, Ava”…these guys have thought of everything!

The Kickstarter campaign is live for 35 more days. You can check out GlowCicle’s Kickstarter page here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/glowcicle/glowcicletm-frozen-party-pops-that-glow-in-the-dark

cookieWHITE CHOCOLATE GINGER COOKIES
(chewy cookies with a ginger kick)
makes 2 dozen big/over indulged cookies
makes 4 dozen smaller/less decadent cookies

INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla paste, can substitute vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger (we suggest using a microplane)
  • 11 ounces white chocolate chips

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 350º F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, salt and baking soda.
  2. In the bowl of a standing mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, or using a hand mixer cream together the butter and sugars. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing until fully combined. Add in the vanilla paste and ginger, mixing until just combined. Gradually add in the flour mixture 1 cup at a time. Add the white chocolate chips.
  3. Drop by the heaping tablespoon full onto the prepared baking sheet and bake until lightly golden (12-15 minutes), cookies will appear still slightly soft in the middle, but will set up firmly as they cool.  (Note: For smaller less decadent cookies use a teaspoon measure and bake for 8-10 minutes). Using a spatula, remove cookies from the parchment to cool. Repeat with the remaining cookie dough.

Celebrating our newest arrival

Celebrating our newest arrival

IMG_3782Something major happened in our lives just a couple of weeks ago… 8 weeks ago to the day if you want to pinpoint the date.  On August 15th we welcomed our newest bundle of joy.  Our daughter, Harlow Gray Cohen, was born at 8:02AM.  She has a full head of hair (thanks to Suzanne for dealing with months of heartburn) and a huge appetite just like her big brother.  She has a sweet temperament that only a 3rd child could have (and we’re very thankful for that!).

Its hard to imagine having 3 kids, especially in an NYC apartment but it just feels so right.  With that said of course we had to get all new baby gear, so stay tuned to all the great new baby gear reviews.

I cant wait to tell you about our little 2 month old girl and hows she’s getting along with her 2.5 year old big sister Harper and 7 year old Big Brother Marc. I will now leave you with some of Suzanne’s awesome photographs of Harlow, you can follow Suzanne’s GothamLove instagram feed for new photos of all 3 of the kids.

New York Comic Con 2015 and finding real art at Choice Collectables

New York Comic Con 2015 and finding real art at Choice Collectables

New York Comic Con comes and it goes but memories last forever…  This year I took my son Marc (7 years old) to NYCC15 Kids Day.  The show was packed but Marc wanted to wear his Storm Trooper costume. We walked around a while checking out the limited edition figures and toys and then we started to get to the art work.  We past this booth that was wall to wall art.  It happened to be Choice Collectables, who has taken the idea of comics as a fine art to the next level.  Each of their pieces are amazing.

When you get into a booth at NYCC you’re almost rushed in and out just as quick but not at Choice Collectables they loved explaining the different styles of art work to my son.  They showed him the special star wars section but what I really loved was the Marvel section.  They had amazing pieces from one of my favorite comic book artists Alex Ross.

Choice Collectables is a premier provider of original, limited edition, and out-of-print pop culture fine art. Founded in 1997, Choice is the brainchild of Business Executive Ari Goldman, whose love for the artistry of pop culture drew him to the world of animation collectibles.

For more than 18 years, the company has been proud to offer an incredible selection of items, including: fine art, collectables and sports memorabilia. One of Choice’s marquee components is its magnificent work as the licensed fine art publisher for Marvel Comics. By sticking to their core purpose of elevating pop culture through high-value limited-edition fine art across a wide spectrum of price points, Choice Collectibles has brought Marvel Fine Art alongside contemporary fine art greats like Andy Warhol, Norman Rockwell, and others in galleries worldwide. With their product mix featuring Spiderman, Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk, Thor, Guardians of the Galaxy, and many more.

As you could imagine I was sold on the spot.  Marc needed some real young adult artwork as his room is shared by his baby sister so he’s fighting off the pinks and purples with his super heroes.
