Recently, Disney Interactive and Marvel Entertainment announced that fans of Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes (2.0 Edition)will be able to walk on the wild side as three of Marvel’s biggest bad guys join the game. Spider-Man’s arch-nemesis the Green Goblin and Guardians of the Galaxy rabble-rousers Ronan and Yondu join all of the previously announced Marvel and Disney characters in the popular video game franchise.
Green Goblin: Armed with Pumpkin Bombs, the brilliantly nefarious Goblin uses his Electro Shock Gauntlet to dispatch opponents handily in both Marvel’s Spider-Man Play Set and the Toy Box (2.0 Edition). Superhuman strength, spectacular jumps, and the ability to charge his bombs into more powerful bolas all make him a villainous force to be reckoned with for both symbiotes and Super Heroes alike.

Today, Disney Interactive announced the availability of the Disney Infinity: Toy Box Starter Pack (2.0 Edition), a special Disney-themed Starter Pack featuring fan favorites Merida and Stitch and new Toy Box Games set in the worlds of “Lilo and Stitch” and “Brave,” all for a suggested retail price of $59.99. The company also announced the launch of its Disney Originals figures including Donald Duck, Tinker Bell, Maleficent and Aladdin, as well as Hiro and Baymax from the upcoming Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Big Hero 6.”
This unique Starter Pack allows fans to begin their Disney Infinity (2.0 Edition) experience using existing Disney figures and Power Discs, new Disney Originals characters, and the latest additions from the recently launched Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes game.
“It’s important for us to offer Disney fans an alternative entry point to the Disney Infinity sequel this holiday season, and the Disney Infinity: Toy Box Starter Pack is a great way for fans to experience the game and the new Toy Box 2.0,” said John Blackburn, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Disney Infinity. “We built an entirely new Toy Box for this year’s version of Disney Infinity and we can’t wait to see what our fans will create.”

The Disney Infinity: Toy Box Starter Pack game is a part of the Disney Infinity universe, which also includes the recently launched Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes. All Disney Infinity figures and Power Discs are compatible with the Disney Infinity: Toy Box Starter Pack (2.0 Edition), in addition to the Marvel Play Sets. With the release of Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Superheroes Edition less than a week away, it’s certainly exciting that some of the mysteries of the new game are finally becoming clearer, with new figures and features finally coming to light. The latest reveal in regard to the game is the release of a full list of the 82 new Power Discs that will be available for the game! For those of you not in the know, Disney Infinity‘s Power Discs (which are sold separately from the game and figures in random 2-packs) give players access to unique abilities vehicles, weapons, ground textures, backgrounds, and (new for 2.0) special costumes and team-ups. Of the 82 newly-announced Power Discs, 40 will draw from the Marvel Super Heroes end of things, while the other 42 will come from the Disney Originals (animated classics, Disney Channel shows, and so forth). All Marvel Power Discs will be available at the game’s launch next week, and the Disney Power Discs will be available beginning on November 4.

The above video shows off the newly-announced Spider-Man Play Set, coming to Disney Infinity 2.0 this fall! The Spider-Man Play Set will feature a storyline which follows the Green Goblin as he tries to destroy S.H.I.E.L.D. once and for all. After capturing Venom to extract and clone symbiotes from him, he hires Mysterio to be his second in command and wreak havoc on the Marvel universe. Players will fight the spreading symbiotes and face Mysterio and Green Goblin in in the sewers, labs and skies above Manhattan. Key highlights for the Spider-Man Play Set include:
Play Set: Playable characters include Spider-Man, Nick Fury, Iron Fist, Nova and Venom with additional appearances by White Tiger, Black Cat and Luke Cage. Players will be tasked to destroy the cloned symbiotes and advance to fight Mysterio.
Toy Box: Spider-Man, Nick Fury, Iron Fist, Nova and Venom will be playable in the all-new Toy Box 2.0 mode of the game, along with all characters previously released for Disney Infinity. Players will be able to use these characters, plus hundreds of Marvel and Disney-themed items, locations, props and vehicles, to create new adventures in customized worlds. Once players complete the Spider-Man Play Set, the S.H.I.E.L.D. Hover Car, S.H.I.E.L.D. Sky Cycle, Daily Bugle Building and more will be unlocked and can be used in Toy Box.
The Spider-Man Play Set will be available in retail stores this fall. Additional Play Sets and characters will be announced in the coming months.
