2K Play’s Carnival Games: Monkey See, Monkey Do – Exclusively on Kinect for Xbox 360 Review and Giveaway

2K Play’s Carnival Games: Monkey See, Monkey Do – Exclusively on Kinect for Xbox 360 Review and Giveaway

When a Wily Wizard, Mischievous Monkey and Boastful Barker fit prominently into your family game night, it can only mean 2K Play’s Carnival Games: Monkey See, Monkey Do [amazon] is now available in North America exclusively on Kinect for Xbox 360. The latest in gaming technology allows players to actually speak to the Wizard to learn their future, challenge the Monkey to a “Cotton Eye Joe” dance-off and contemplate the Barker’s generous offer to swim in the Shark Tank. The game is out now.

The game is super fun for both adults and kids, the hands free controller aspect is amazing (still one of my favorite features of kinect. The games are really good for parties as well as casual afternoon game play with a few kids.  I think the game line up is terrific and even the way they break the menus up to be in sections of the carnival really lend itself to the game.  If you have kids that love carnivals or games that are physical puzzles or eye/hand movement type games then this will be right up their alley.  I think this game is great for ages 4-11 but there is a ton of game play value for older kids and adults (as I love playing the game too).

Carnival Games: Monkey See, Monkey Do features five theme-park alleyways – from Coaster Corner to Whirligig Way – housing twenty colorful midway games and attractions. Players of all ages can compete against friends and family as they go for the Knockout Punch against a heavy bag that fights back, twist their body in Crash Test Dummy, leap into a space-age journey in Rocket to Mars, catch coins while roller-coasting down Gold Rush Mountain and much more.

“We built Carnival Games: Monkey See, Monkey Do from the ground up to take full advantage of the one-of-a-kind technology in Kinect for Xbox 360,” said Steve Lux, vice president for business development for 2K Play. “From the character-based voice recognition capabilities to the virtual reality effect you feel from playing a game of Granny Shot, the game has no equal in the world of family entertainment.”

Developed by 2K’s Cat Daddy Games, the studio behind the successful Carnival Games franchise that has sold more than 7 million units worldwide, Carnival Games: Monkey See, Monkey Do also features midway classics that are completely re-imagined to be controller-free for Kinect for Xbox 360, including Alley Ball, Strength Test, Court King and Wheel of Chance. All manner of interactive prizes and surprises await players, such as animated pet dragons, robot cowboys and flying bears.

The immersive experience is enhanced as gamers challenge each other playing as their Xbox Avatars. In addition, tickets can be redeemed to acquire a wide variety of outfits, including Ninja, Swashbuckler, Viking and Wild West costumes. A special Carnival Games’ avatar collection will be available on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft featuring a stylish array of Barker accessories, and the game will be enhanced with downloadable content in the future.

As no family game night is complete without snacks, Carnival Games: Monkey See, Monkey Do includes a coupon for a free package of Jolly Time popcorn, redeemable at retailers throughout North America, and a recipe for Monkey Barker Popcorn Pops. The game is being supported by a marketing campaign that includes television advertising on major networks and national programs such as “American Idol” and “Dancing with the Stars.”

The $1,000,000 Pyramid for Wii from Ubisoft review and giveaway

$1,000,000 Pyramid [amazon] brings back the classic, Emmy award-winning game show from 1973 as two pairs of players compete to make their way to the winner’s circle. Staying true to the original show, players will choose from six categories and guess words based on a theme. Score more points than the other team and get a chance to be the grand winner of $1,000,000!

This classic game show revival will feature over 800 categories (with over 4,800 words) and a two player head-to-head mode that is sure to get the whole family involved. As players progress through the game, they will unlock bonus content that can be used to customize their in-game avatars.

It’s a great party game because of the trivia aspect of it, so much so there is even a party mode. It’s a straight forward game and very simple to play… it’ll be great for adults just looking to test their own game skills.

Pyramid has a personal connection to my family because my father was on the show back in the 70’s.

Kinectimals on Kinect for xbox 360 review and giveaway

Kinectimals on Kinect for xbox 360 review and giveaway

The idea of the virtual pet has come along way from the days of little black and white little egg shaped toys years ago.  Now children (and adults) can raise their own interactive pets… Kinectimals [amazon] is the first video games that allows you to be the controller using the xbox 360 kinect system to interact with your virtual pet.  There of course is a great twist which is you can purchase different stuff animals/plush toys to unlock different characters.  Since this was one of the first games being developed for the system its still by far one of the best.  Microsoft certainly has put a ton of work into this game and it show, from the details in the blades of grass to the interactions the animals have with the game player.

I’m not sure I love the fact that all the interactions are so standard it does make it hard for a toddler (my 2.5 year old) to interact with animals at times but I think any 3.5 year old or 4 year old should be able to control their emotions and arms for the 10 seconds to choose the different game plays. If thats the only fault of this game – then really its not a fault at all… its an advanced gaming system I’m not so sure its made for my toddler 😛 (shhh dont tell the wife I’m playing video games while she sleeps at night).

Here’s a clip of the video game I’m sure you’ve seen it before – its just great…

As you can see it does for allow for the full body tracking and is pretty awesome at the interactions with the animal on screen.

A wide-eyed Bengal tiger cub cocks its head to the side and playfully peers at you. Memories of your first trip to the zoo come rushing back. Through the magic of Kinect that furry tiger cub is in your living room and about to become your best friend.

“Kinectimals” invites children, their parents and animal lovers of all ages to build lasting friendships with some of the world’s most exotic creatures. Just like real pets, your “Kinectimals” will come running when they hear your voice, respond to commands such as “jump,” “roll over” and “play dead,” and purr with joy when you scratch them behind their ears.

Details

  • Get in touch with your wild side. Your journey begins when you adopt and name one of 20 playful friends, including a lion, cheetah and Bengal tiger.
  • Create memories that last a lifetime. From the first time she recognizes her name to when she learns to fetch, your cub will grow up as your sidekick, eager to discover the island around you. She will always be ready for a scratch and a belly rub with smiles and purrs.
  • The fun never ends. There are new ways to train tricks such as fetch, play activities such as jump rope, and even master agilvity courses with hops, stops and balancing acts. Invite a friend with his or her pet for some fun contests.
  • Discover, collect and customize. “Kinectimals” rewards those who are curious about the island they live on. Travel far and wide to discover treasures and toys, and find and unlock new environments. You can customize your pet and decorate your home, plus use the in-game store to shop for items to nurture and care for your new best friend.
  • Grow your “Kinectimals” family. Collectible, limited-edition plush toys will be available online and at popular retail stores. Choose your new friend, scan the code with the Kinect sensor, then watch it come to life on the screen right before your eyes. With your very own plush pal you can keep your new friend with you even when you’re away from your Xbox 360.

you do need the kinect senor for your xbox 360 to get this game up and running in your house (so dont forget that).

How to win it… Contest ends 11:59pm EST. April 20th, 2011.

Spongebob Squigglepants for uDraw on Wii is out

Spongebob Squigglepants for uDraw on Wii is out

Another great game for kids and fans of Spongebob came out today, its Spongebob Squigglepants [amazon] for uDraw [amazon] on the Nintendo Wii.  A fast-paced, fun-packed video game for the popular uDraw GameTablet for Wii. In SpongeBob SquigglePants, players will need to tilt, flip, shake, roll, flick, sketch, tap, trace and draw their way through more than 100 “nanogames” lasting merely a few seconds each.  As their experience progresses, each nanogame will become faster and faster.  Throughout each nanogame, players will get a look at never-before-seen SpongeBob art styles from the Nickelodeon vault, such as “Pixel Bob,” inspired by the 8-bit world of video games; “Punk Rock Bob,” “Comic Book Bob” and many more!  The SpongeBob SquigglePants game is hosted by the live-action character Patchy the Pirate, who guides players through the game and also makes surprise appearances and interactions with them as they go through the nanogames.

The game is perfect for advanced 3 year olds, my 2 year old was able to play a few of the nanogames after watching me give it a go once or twice.  The game is sweet for 4 and 5 year olds who have mastered the uDraw and Wii game play.  I really love how sort some of these games are which totally keeps the attention of the kids.

In SpongeBob SquigglePants, players might have to flick the uDraw stylus to toss a flying disc to Larry the Lobster in “Flying Disc of the Deep”; tilt the GameTablet to help SpongeBob blow out all the birthday cake candles in “That Takes the Spongecake”; or draw a quick line between two cliffs to create a bridge for Plankton to cross and grab his coveted Krabby Patty in “A Bridge Abridged.” These are just some of the scores of quirky tasks players will experience.

SpongeBob SquigglePants also treats fans to never-before-seen art styles from the Nickelodeon vault, including “B-Movie,” inspired by the thrilling days of drive-in movies and stylish horror films; “Sketch Bob,” which gives the seaworthy inhabitants of Bikini Bottom a freehand style look; “Simply Bob,” a stylized and abstract interpretation of life under the sea; and many others.

What’s more, SpongeBob SquigglePants features Patchy the Pirate, the president of the SpongeBob fan club, as its live-action host. Patchy not only guides players through the game, but also makes surprise appearances and interacts with players as they tackle the huge array of Nanogames, offering an added level of spongy fun.

Adding to the fun, SpongeBob SquigglePants lets players digitally draw, paint and color with a free-form drawing function, or choose from dozens of SpongeBob-themed stamps. With the uDraw, they create a masterpiece worthy of a place in Patchy’s own collection of SpongeBob art – or their own refrigerator, thanks to the uDraw’s exclusive ability to export art to the Wii system’s SD card slot. The SD card capability also makes it possible to share artwork with friends via e-mail or save it to computer desktops.

SpongeBob SquigglePants is rated E for everyone and is available exclusively on uDraw GameTablet for Wii, with a suggested price of $29.99.

For me this game is really cool and for any spongebob fan – its a must buy! For those looking for a great kids game its awesome but please note you need the uDraw before you can squiggle out with this game.

It’s time to break it down! Look think what you will of Michael his music was amazing and I dont know if there is more then 3 tracks that he’s ever created that wont have you tapping a toe in less then a minute.  The Experience is from the line of games by Ubisoft – its awesome how they nailed the moves, nailed the music, and give you so much game play in just one artist.

When I first took this game out my wife and I danced for over 2 hours and even stopped for dinner in between rounds. We keep trying to beat each other scores, dance to tracks from easy, medium and hard.  Even my little one could dance to some of the simple tracks.

Check out whats included on Michael Jackson The Experience track list:

  • Bad
  • Beat It
  • Billie Jean
  • Black or White
  • Dirty Diana
  • Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough

  • In The Closet
  • Leave Me Alone
  • Money
  • Remember the Time
  • Rock with You

After checking out that list I bet there is like 6 songs – you’re already thinking about listening too or wanting to play now…  This is an awesome party game because you can rock it with up to 4 players with a few different game modes Battle one-on-one (or two-on-two) in Challenge mode, form your own dance crew, or be the star with your friends as your very own back-up dancers.

I totally think Michael Jackson The Experience for Wii is worth a purchase [Amazon]. You know what the awesome part is – that we’re giving one away.
