Give the kids the countdown they need with a little help from Netflix #streamteam

unnamed-7This year you can celebrate as a family and still have time for a parents-only party with a whole new set of New Year’s Eve countdowns, available today only on Netflix, designed for preschoolers, tweens and everyone in between. You choose when to say goodnight, and kids choose how to celebrate with their favorite characters.

Already dreaming about pressing play on that New Year’s Eve celebration long before the clock strikes twelve? You’re not the only one. According to a recent survey from Netflix, 9 is the new midnight for parents in the U.S., with nearly half of parents (48%) saying they’d ring in the new year by 9 p.m.

So grab your party hats, noisemakers and 2016 glasses — and celebrate those famous 10 seconds, whether the ball has dropped or not. We won’t tell your kids it’s not midnight if you don’t.

Kids can pick their favorite character or ring in the new year again and again with countdowns featuring Oona and Baba of Puffin Rock, Care Bears & Cousins, Inspector Gadget, the Project Mc2girls, King Julien, or Mr. Peabody & Sherman and all their DreamWorks Animation friends

5 Comedy Specials that will have you laughing on Netflix #StreamTeam

5 Comedy Specials that will have you laughing on Netflix #StreamTeam

77731346-image-optimized_5539130de6a02I love to laugh… growing up in NYC on the weekends I would grab friends and head to Dangerfeld’s comedy club.  Over the years of going to see the shows I was lucky enough to catch Rodney at one of the shows.  He signed napkins for each of us, ragged on the comedians, and commented how he owned this joint and gets no respect.

So here are 5 comedy specials on Netflix worth checking out…

Louis CK – Live at the Beacon Theater — Louis talks a lot about his life as a dad and just people in general.  This set is amazing and will have you laughing your sides off.

Bill Burr – I’m Sorry you feel that way — I heard Bill first on the Opie & Anthony Radio show… and since then I’ve been a fan.  This set is really funny goes into pop culture which had me in tears.

Chris D’Elia – Incorrigible — You’ve most likely seen Chris on one of the 40 million ads for his great show in NBC undateable.  In this set he talks about how much fun the NFL could be with real animals… I had to pause the special to catch my breathe and refill my drink.

Iliza Shlesinger – Freezing Hot — Funny women in comedy is becoming common place (I think a lot in part to Tina Fey). Iliza does a great set about hashtags and a common problem of always being cold.

Aziz Ansari – Live at Madison Square Garden — Aziz could be one of the smartest comedians out there… This special is a little briany at times but still worth 58 minutes of your life.

If you dont like these five, then hopefully you’ll like my bonus picks of Lewis Black – Old Yeller – Live at the Borgata or Jim Gaffigan – Mr. Universe both had me laughing to the point I had tears in my eyes.

Watch Kevin Spacey interview Charlie Cox #StreamTeam

Watch Kevin Spacey interview Charlie Cox #StreamTeam

I’m loving the original series that Netflix has been putting out between House of Cards, Marco Polo, Bloodline, and Daredevil the shows are amazing.  I’ve binged watched all 4 of those shows and they are amazing.

Recently Netflix released an interview between Kevin Spacey of House of Cards and Charlie Cox of Daredevil… the video is pretty epic in its own right.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt a new Netflix original series

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt a new Netflix original series

UKS_Keyart_US-MAINTina Fey.  Tina Fey.  Tina Fey.  Its kindof like saying theres no place like home… cause really when you say Tina Fey you know you’re going to laugh.  Thats just what this new series on Netflix is… its a belly laugh.

Kimmy Schmidt (Ellie Kemper from “The Office” and “Bridesmaids”) is a woman who is freed after spending the past 15 years in an underground bunker as part of a Doomsday cult. She decides to start her life over in New York City as a nanny for a socialite (Jane Krakowski from “30 Rock”). Armed with just a backpack, light-up sneakers and a couple of past-due library books, she takes on a world she didn’t think even existed anymore.

What could go wrong?!

Well I feel in a lot of ways becoming a dad for the first time is light that well without the lightup shoes (but those would be cool – so if anyone gets a size 16 Nike Back to the Future shoe this year I want them!)… but my wife gave birth and there I was craddling my child for the first time – looking at a world I didnt know to exist for the first time… the world of being a dad.. they did give us a nice little backpack filled with goodies and samples and enough photocopies to kill a tree but those were some nice tip sheets… like never shake a baby.

While we might not wait 15 years — I think its more like 18 years after your last child is born to really come out of the bunker of parenthood. This is a nice couple of laughs along the way.

House of Cards season 3 rolls out in all its binge glory

House of Cards season 3 rolls out in all its binge glory

Its finally here… House of Cards season 3 has finally rolled out onto Netflix!

So if you havent watched the first two seasons leave now… stop reading quickly… Spoilers AHEAD after clip!

Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) is president now, which means he has to take a break from murder and manipulation to actually run the country.

For those who don’t remember, Frank convinced Senator Hector Mendoza to start a smear campaign against President Garrett Walker (because he and his wife had been to couples’ counseling) and persuaded a special prosecutor to implicate Walker in a scandal involving money laundering with a Chinese businessman. President Walker finally stepped down, making Frank Underwood POTUS.

Now if you’ve binge watched the entire 3 seasons… take a look at Marco Polo you need to dedicate 2 hours to get into the show as you really need to watch the first and second episodes together to build enough love to be hooked.  Once you’re hooked you’ll be glad to know season 2 is already in the works.
