The Broadway company of “Driving Miss Daisy” has announced that their Special Benefit Performance for The Actors Fund

It was just announced that this special Actors Fund performance will also be dedicated to Vanessa Redgrave’s siblings Lynn and Corin Redgrave who died last year.  This is definitely going to be a heartfelt remembrance with emotions running high for Vanessa, the cast and the audience.

“With extraordinary careers spanning decades in film, television and theater, the Redgrave family has left an indelible mark on the entertainment landscape. Both Lynn and Corin were staunch and gracious supporters of The Actors Fund as well as advocates for everyone dedicated to performing arts and entertainment,” said Jed Bernstein, the show’s producer and Actors Fund Trustee.

“We are honored the company of ‘Driving Miss Daisy’ will join us in expressing our heartfelt appreciation for their steadfast and unwavering support of The Actors Fund,” he added.

Lynn Redgrave served on the Board of Trustees of The Actors Fund since 1992 and as a Vice Chair since 2006. She regularly served as team captain of The Actors Fund’s EIF Revlon Run/Walk team to raise awareness about women’s cancers, and was instrumental in developing “In the Spotlight,” The Actor Fund’s major gifts program. Her brother Corin regularly donated his time and talents performing to raise funds for the entertainment charity.

PaGAGnini at The New Victory Theater! – Win 4 Tickets for next weekend

Pagagnini is a sophisticated, thought-provoking, professional production, that is as artistically rich as it is entertaining.  NY Philharmonic meet Marx Brothers.  This  quartet of classically trained string musicians who open themselves to the world of physical comedy and slapstick, ready to jump, scream, dance, fall over and go crazy in the process.    Their music ranges from minuets to country western in the matter of a change in tempo.  The audience, made up of 6 to 60 year olds, is brought in to the action by the energy, antics and musical talent of the performers.  Want some culture wrapped in fun, go see Pagagnini.

Mozart, Chopin, Pachelbel – and even U2 – take on a new tenor when performed by Armenian virtuoso Ara Malikian and company in this award-winning, music/comedy show PaGAGnini, from May 7 through May 23, 2010 at The New Victory Theater.

With hilarious twists on symphonic treasures and modern melodies alike, this wordless concert is a delightful marriage of music and comedy.  What starts out as a serious classical concert soon turns into hilarious chaos when the maestro loses control of the mischievous quartet.  Winner of the Best Show at the 2008 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Moerser Comedy Prize at the 2009 International Comedy Arts Festival, PaGAGnini’s interpretations are simply ingenious.
