Suzi Shelton
Performance at 11:00 AM

Brooklyn-based kindie rocker Suzi Shelton will play a family show on Sunday, March 25th at 11am, showcasing tunes from her latest release “Tomboy in a Princess Dress”, written with her 7 year old daughter in mind. Suzi will be joined by guitarist Greg Mayo, bass and trombone player Albert Elias, and her children. “I love the interactive element of my performances,” says Suzi. There’s nothing like seeing a room full of kids pumping their fists shouting “Road Trip! That personal connection to the audience…it’s one of the main reasons why I do kids music.” Suzi will also feature songs from her two previous solo CD’s “Simply Suzi” and, “No Ordinary Day,” which include favorites like “Scooter Boy,” and “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”.

Suzi has enjoyed rocking kids for over 10 years with her original songs and may look familiar as she is also the musical host of Gymboree Play & Music’s DVD series. She has also recently ventured into the online scene with her crowd-pleasing live webcasts where her young fans can hear her sing their favorite songs, interact with her and her family and/or special guests, and even win CD’s and T-shirts – all while remaining in the comfort of their own home. This can be a nice option if you can’t get out to see her live. www.suzishelton.com

The Z Brothers
Performance at 1:00 PM

Who can play the Wheels on the Bus and Sweet Home Alabama at the same sing-a-long and still pull it off: The Z Brothers! Paulie Z, David Z and Joey Cassata, three Brooklyn boys, have been performing for kids for over a decade now and their youthful brand of showmanship and high energy sing-a-longs have successfully made the one of the most sought after children’s entertainers in the country.

When attending a Z Brothers show, prepare yourself for an explosive performance filled with singing, shaking, clapping, jumping and a lot of dancing. Also, keep your ears open for some classic rock tunes that’ll have all the adults joining in the fun. The Z Brothers are probably best known for their ability to seamlessly intertwine songs from all different age groups into one sing-a-long. They’ll play everything from Barney to the Beatles to NSYNC so that kids, older siblings, parents and even nannies are guaranteed to have a great time. Paulie, David and Joey approach their sing-a-longs from a rock n’ roll perspective because they are both working musicians in that field. To date they have released three albums with their hard rock band ZO2 and have starred in two seasons of their own TV series on cable called Z Rock. www.thezbrothers.com

The music of the Dream Jam Band is inspired by a spirit of wonder and curiosity. Through invigorating kid and family-friendly songs, their unique style reflects the belief that young children are endowed with a capacity to synthesize musical ideas, enhancing learning in all areas.

The DJB members, Francine, Barry G, Maestro C, and Erin the Red are entertainers as well as music teachers. Formed in New York, the band achieved rapid national success. Their eponymous first album Dream Jam Band featured eleven original songs, two of which, “Nicky Nicky Knock Knock” and “Look Around” reached Number One at SiriusXM satellite radio. The album was named to the Top Ten List of National Public Radio’s best Children’s and Family Albums, and also won four Children’s Web Awards and received extensive airplay on kids’ programming across the USA.

The band has also toured extensively, playing throughout the northeast and as far west as Steamboat Springs, Colorado. They were a headline attraction at Kidzapalooza and Taste of Chicago, and packed the famous Ohio Theater at Cleveland’s Playhouse Theater complex. The Dream Jam Band have been featured on PBS Sprout and was the sole musical entertainment for their three-hour live television special, Chica’s Big Birthday Surprise.

The DJB is now launching their second album, Leave it in the Soup, and debuting a new stage show which the band will premier at a two-day event at the International Children’s Festival at the Ohio State Theater. The band then travels to the House of Kids at Irving Plaza in New York City, and will continue touring through the summer and fall.

The Dream Jam Band is a musically prolific powerhouse that writes original, engaging and intelligent children’s songs. The talent of the collective members includes proficiency with over twenty musical instruments, and their positive lyrics and infectious tempo bring all members of the family to the party. All songs are written by the band and feature sophisticated productions of full-blown modern tracks and encompass a broad range of influences, from The Beatles to Mozart, Duke Ellington to Woody Guthrie. Produced by award winning songwriter and producer Rick Chertoff (Cyndi Lauper, Joan Osborne, Ron Howard’s The Grinch) the music spans the spectrum of rock, pop, blues, hip hop, sing-a-longs and classical.

The Dream Jam Band is a harmonious adventure perfectly suited for the tastes of children and their parents. So be prepared for a melodic stew, musically contagious and rhythmically sagacious, cooked for a craving of cool and an appetite for fun. With several new projects up their collective sleeves including a book collaboration with noted children’s illustrator Mark Braught, and the upcoming release of the album Barry G and the Dream Jam Kids, look for more musilogical projects as the Dream Jam Band are just getting started.

Come hear Suzi and her band as they ROCK the HOUSE IN HOBOKEN!

Here is a little bit about Suzi…

“Brooklyn-based songstress and all around children’s rock goddess” NYFamily Brooklyn

Suzi released her second award winning solo CD, NO ORDINARY DAY produced by Dan Siegler, in 2008, including her most requested songs “Goin on a Road Trip,” “Scooter Boy,” and “No Ordinary Day!” (it really rocks!).

With awards from Parents’ Choice, the Children’s Music Web, iParenting Media and a 2007 Gold Award from the National Parenting Publications, Suzi is gaining national critical acclaim as well as a loyal following in her home base of New York City. Be sure to check out her debut CD, Simply Suzi and her LIVE DVD, Suzi Shelton LIVE at Southpaw!

Suzi Says:
I grew up in Chesterland, Ohio where I was a dancer and a preschool teacher. After moving to New York City, I began singing in a children’s band, called Imagination Workshop Band, which along with teaching dance, became a wonderful combination of creativity and fun. Through the years, I have come to realize that I am the happiest when surrounded by kids singing and dancing along with me, so that is what i continue to do. I love my job and feel very grateful that I am able to have so much fun when I am “working”! I also love to write songs and am constantly inspired by my husband, Dave, and my two children, Sebastian (11) and Emma Rose (5).

Who is the band?
I am usually accompanied by a very talented and wonderful group including guitarist Steve Elliot, bassist Matt Clohesy, and drummer Rob Heath. Quite often my backup singer and 11 year old son, Sebastian joins in as well. He will sometimes have some enthusiastic backup singers “The Gumdrops” join in with him to really get the kids up and dancing.
